Based on 5.4.1, I would start with EH1 for manufacturing area and Class III for
storage area per 5.6.3.

Protecting Science - One Sprinkler
Sidewall sprinklers can be installed farther from a fire than pendents and
uprights. A 20x20 pendent would be no more than 10' from a fire. A 16x20
sidewall could be 20' from a fire. There is a larger delay in response time for
sidewalls due to distance from a fire. Now you want to add a
Ron,
The actual issue is in house inspections for sprinkler systems. We often look
at NFPA 13 installation rules to determine if our sprinklers are installed
properly. What was installed properly in 2002 would no longer be proper. I.e.
it was 18 inches down from the deflector as installed,
What are the qualifications for an NFPA 25 sprinkler system inspector?
Seems pretty open ended to me. We routinely look for NICET qualifications
for designers but what about the inspectors? I'm trying to establish a
specification for NFPA 25 inspections and originally thought I'd say
qualified
NICET has a fire protection engineering technology: Inspection and Testing of
Water-Based Systems. In DE we require all sprinkler inspectors to obtain a
water based certification.

Bill,
NICET has an excellent program for Sprinkler Inspectors and many states
like North Carolina use this program for licensing of individual
Inspectors and for licensing of Companies.

You get all the cool projects Todd! How often is it that the product we are
protecting is meant to be burned? This means you have all the thermal
properties required to determine the quantity and combustibility of the
contents, AND the heat release rate! (~7500 btu/lb, 85% burning efficiency).

NFPA 25:4.1.1.2 says they must be competent through training and experience.
You can use NFPA 1031 as a reference as well. This standard has 3 levels for
fire inspectors. Note, this is for overall knowledge, not just NFPA 25 systems.

TDA has inspected these facilities. But please back to the question.
How to apply the standard?
When chapter 8.6.5.2.2.1 says that the 70% mesh curtain with a 22 from
ceiling to bottom of mesh shall not be considered as an obstruction why do
we even have to discuss it?
Why can't they be accepted,

Is the process all under one roof? Many of the big operations a comprised of
separate buildings, each with a unique functional process. It is possible that
not every building will require sprinklers, but that will depend on the actual
process and materials used and occupancy classifications
What is OH4.5? Also in regards to the outside hose, what are you doubling,
the amount of hydrants or the flow rate or ?

NFPA 25 makes a couple of references to technical expertise:
4.1.1.2 Inspection, testing and maintenance shall be performed by
personnel who have developed competence through training and experience.
4.1.4.2 Corrections and repairs shall be performed by qualified
