[SQLObject] Managing hierarchical data

Is there a recommend way to deal with hierarchical data with SQLObject? I think I'm going to simply keep track of my categories and their hierarchy outside of SQLObject classes and then simply have all of my objects contain a category id so I can list them under the proper category. Reference:
