EDIT: start server on login *does* work, only start-on-boot is not
working on Big Sur 11.1
Hmm... that's interesting, as the two are basically identical. But it
will be difficult to investigate without a machine to play with...

@mherger - do you think it will be possible to also disable editing of
presets via the player?
I'm sorry, this is not possible at this point.
I am using the radio in a kids room and in
between, my kid overrides the presets... I patched out the access to
settings on the player as a first step..

I completely deleted the Cache directory
/Users//Library/Caches/Squeezebox
returned the next day and checked and perl5.18 was using some 0.5% or so
CPU time. LMS is working again just perfectly!

Did you try all three options? What build are you using?

If this is so, then OP must have first disabled ALAC -> Flac as well,
if so then why ? If it is not disabled and no ALAC->Flac option was
