Still can't explain the behaviour, but reverting to 7.9.0 (complete
reinstall via 7.7.6) seems to have solved the problem.

Hi Michael
Yes, I disabled scobbling in LMS. But, as expected: it stopped
scrobbling
Same for me... I always used the 'nightlies' and never experiences any
problem. Still I have the feeling that the 'double scrobbles' started
with 7.9.2. I did not install any other 3rd party scrobbler, at
Did you try disabling scrobbling in LMS?
FWIW: I've been running "the bleeding edge" LMS for years. Never have I
experienced this. Nor would I know why this would have started recently,
as this code did not change.
You didn't install some 3rd party scrobbler plugin, did you?

I will try this if the problem re-occurs. For now, I have first
downgraded tot LMS 7.7.6, from where I upgraded to 7.9.0
(the problem started when I installed nightly 7.9.2)
Let's see where this leads...
SlimPvC's
Unfortunately Last.fm does not seem to show the application id/name that
generated a particular scrobble.
With debug logging enabled for plugin.audioscrobbler
>From a command line session on your LMS server ...
grep "submitScrobble" server.log
or - your LMS is on Windows
find "submitScrobble"
Damn. Thought it was solved by reinstalling LMS bit the problem
re-appeared today...

No, I only had last.fm plugin active, no squeezescrobbler... (didn't
even know that existed)
As far as I can It seems the problem seems solved bij reinstalling from
scratch.
So I guess it's an unexplained glitch, possibly due to installing a beta
nightly version who knows

You might have missed my edit earlier.
Do (did) you have SqueezeScrobbler enabled (as well as Last.fm
Audioscrobbler)?
Seeing different patterns for the artist name in the 2 scrobbles could
well mean that there were 2 different implementations doing the
scrobbling.

That is what I suspected also but I really could not think of what the
2nd client could be.
It's even getting weirder: when I set the log setting to 'debug' the
problem seems to disappear. Bit
Is there any chance that you have 2 different scrobbling clients
enabled?
You log sample does not (to me) appear to show the same track being
scrobbled more than once.
Can you post an extract from your logs of all lines with
"submitScrobble" (at least enough to show duplication)?
Paul
That is indeed what it SHOULD be, but this should not result in
definitive double scrobbles (image below). So there are actually three
submission moments: the first is now playing (I can also see that on
last.fm), but after refreshing TWO definiteve scrobbles on last.fm
(below).
If no one else
I think that the first one is a "Now Playing" and the second is the
actual scrobble.
If you watch refresh your profile page on Last.fm you should see it
showing what you are listening to as the track starts .. but that is not
the scrobble.

This is a log example.. Don't really know how to read this, but it looks
to me as if the track is scrobbled when half of it is played AND when it
is finished. (instead of .OR.). Still got no clue how to solve this.
Code:
[19-03-02 11:12:14.1040]
Now it even gets weirder:
When I set the audioscrobbler log setting to 'debug'... the problem
stops completely.. No more double scrobbles and also no remarkable log
entries..
As soon as I set it back to a lower level the double scrobbles start
re-appearing...

Ahh oops, it's in the server log... (I was looking for a specific
audioscrobbler log). Thanks. Will keep it posted here when I find
something (and probably also when I don't ;-))

OK, sorry but here's the inevitable noob question: where is the log file
output stored?
I've set the audioscrobbler log setting to 'debug' but I see no output
in C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Logs

I don't know what has changed, but recently I found out that all tracks
I play via LMS / Squeezebox Touch are scrobbled twice on last.fm. This
was not the case earlier.
On searching online, I only found references to double scrobbles in
Spotify, but this does not concern spotify plays, these
