I think Andy's plugin was developed to support Logitech Revue box to
work with Google TV. LMS got video support as part of this effort. The
Logitech product was canned and IIRC the plugin was not completed.

I don't know exactly if there is any difference between those two
functions. What would LMS render to if not to its players? But I'm not
too deep into DLNA.
Nevertheless I recently played some music from my old android phone and
even from my LMS (as DLNA server) with Bubble UPnP (an android DLNA
