Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] How does Advanced Search work?

2018-12-01 Thread Michael Herger
oh, one more thing: the log file can be your friend. Verify whether
there's any error message to start with.

Start with a simple text search without tweaking any of the additional
controls. Just type a track or album title. And in case you do have
library views, make sure you're not dealing with your kids' library
while searching for AC/DC.

And if you've got a query which you believe should return something, but
does not, you can enable logging for database.sql and post the resulting
SQL query here for our enjoyment :-)

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] How does Advanced Search work?

2018-12-01 Thread Michael Herger

How is it meant to work? If I put in an Artist name, either full, or
just surname, I get nothing. Does ticking an Artist type mean the Artist
must have that role, such that ticking 4 means the Artists must do all
those things, or just any one of them?

Just one of them.

I can't get any results for
Album either. I'm unsure what I'm expected to put in Track. Do I have
to specify the disc and track number?

There's a pref to define whether searches should match at the beginning
of a word only, or anywhere. Eg. whether "edge" should find
"sledgehammer" or not. But other than that it's a simple text match.
Enter a title or album name, stuff should be found.

Is any of this linked to the Full Text Search plugin (which is
installed)?

No. Advanced Search is supposed to give you more control. Therefor not
trying to be smart like FTS.

Are there any wildcards?

No.

Is there any help guide?

Ahm... no.

No..
of i search for humpe as artist and tick all fields under artist i
found everything from

2Raumwohnung; DÖF Ideal and so on from Annette and Inga Humpe.

If i only tick komposer i only find tracks where one / or both of the
famous Humpe Sisters are listed as composers.

And the whole Name would be Annette Humpe or Inga Humpe.
There is no need for a wildcard because of the "contains" exact like
tickboxes.

log extract are what you find interesting - but you may be editing
things somnetimes what is missing is most important - why not just zip a
text file containg the logs from the log file between the times you are
testing and attach thelog file.

A log without a description is not great - you have not said anything
about what is being tested and how ti is being tested - how many
players and types ,what type of file isbeing played, what time stream
started, what happened when playing and at what time ?

The "bailing" indicates that sync has failed.

Yea but true duplicate detection is probably near impossible.. same
album same track won’t do it could be another version or master of the
CD hence not a dupe , just having two of an album does not always means
that they are dupes .

So transcode or weed them out the manual way , when you got a flac rip
move the MP3 out of LMS watched folders. It’s tedious I know made the
mistake of ripping my first 1200 CD’s to MP3 then ripped them again...
argh.

2018-12-01 Thread Man in a van

@SyrinxGC

I trialled

https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspberry-pi-desktop/

on a USB stick and ran it with persistence.

LMS can be installed following the Debian LMS wiki and Squeezelite is
available in the package manager if you don't want to do it yourself.

It works very well (and I learned a bit:cool:).

So now I run LMS on and old Shuttle XS35GS V3 and I'm a happy bunny.:):p

Why not give it a try.

I have looked at Daphile but it seems to be based on a six month old LMS
(I can't see how to update it).

The log has been set to log slimproto - which is not the best starting
point - it is a low level player protocol - doesn't show any problems
that might be on LMS

Under logging tab in WebUI Setting/Advanced/Loggin - select "Reset
Logging Preferences" and click apply.

Does scan work OK - are file all present after scanning ?
What sort of player ?

Hi

I realised that I don't have any local music anymore, although I can

I tried re-scanning, but no change.

I tried rescanning after clearing the library, also no change. I the
log are many strange errors - I attach the log.

any ideas what is going on and what I could do?
