Interesting, since choosing a HomePod or an Apple TV as the output
device does work... I wonder what's different?

I wouldn't think so, as we still can access the subfolders and their
content in Win Explorer, but not through LMS.

Behavior is exactly the same if using Windows or piCorePlayer as LMS
server, at some point LMS reports that the folders are empty, even
though I am playing files from the same folders.
"At some point" means you can't reproduce it at will. It takes a random
amount of time to happen?

Yup, this solved it. Restored from Trackstat backup, all seems to be
good.

you- for putting the track artist first!*!*! I guess the order on pCP's

I've applied a change to 8.3 which will hopefully improve this. Please
give it a try.

RPI 4/piCorePlayer/LMS 8.3.
I've just been playing an album through Discs & Folders from my WD
MyCloud, this album is still showing, but other albums that show in
Windows File Explorer, LMS sees them as empty.
Ok... so... where is your LMS living? WD? Windows? pCP? Is this
reproducible at
So, did you actually accomplish your goal? I also tried to write a
frontend for a particular Media server. The aim was almost the same. I
also wanted the users to be able to get to any track/album in just
one-two click.
It seems that there is no access to internet on the QNap.
If you changed from internet provider, have a close look on the
networksettings of you're QNap nas network settings..
Otherwise visited the QNap forum, to look there for more info.
The trouble lays in the QNap nas no internet access.

Terrific, that worked, many thanks Paul

I've made my Raspberry pi-based LMS inacessable from desktop PC by
setting security on it (Advanced>Security) without putting in the ip
address of the desktop. I'm hoping there's a file I can putty into &
edit but cannot see anything obvious.
Any pointers would be very much appreciated
