Here's another piece of the puzzle - when I add mysqueezebox.com account info on LMS Control Panel and hit "Apply", I get the following error message: "An unexpected error occurred while validating your mysqueezebox.com account. Please make sure network connectivity is working fine." I can log in fine on mysqueezebox.com - I've tried using the "I forgot my password" option from within Control Panel and created a new password - logged into MS.com fine with the new pword - went back to LMS Control Panel - added the new password - same error message. It seems like a firewall / network issue , yet Norton shows it as having full access. Not suggesting this is a solution ... but ... just in case ... Try LMS 8.2.1 and if that does not improve things - try the beta 8.3 If the problem still happens then at least the developers will know that they can look at current code rather than old. This last time volume on players were jumping to 58 shortly after turning on and I noticed my Touch volume had been set to 58 when (I think) it was last used with Spotify Connect. Touch was not on at that time the volume jumped.
