Yes. I was trying to find out why Custom Browse is so slow (It's because
it only uses one table (in persist.db) for all custom tags. So instead
of maybe one

Yes, I did it already. Now there is no more problem. I don't use the
Artistsort Tag normally. It was only in these orphaned files.

Just remove the artistsort tag from the files that have it, and rescan
your library and the sorting effect will not happen.

This may not help, so I'm sorry if it's a distraction.
Ages ago I had a similar problem and no amount of altering the tags got
rid of the problem. The root cause turned out to be my including in
'Comments" reviews of albums which exceeded the character limit for the
field, causing corruption

Yes, this. Viewing and editing tags in bulk is a core feature of the
program, and

This is what can be seen on the screenshots on the page before. This is
the Advanced Tag (Erweiterte Tags) window. On a Mac you can get it with
Command-T.

In Windows the Advanced Tag display is Alt+T look for something similar
in the Mac version
I agree it will be an ARTISTSORT tag somewhere

I can see a single example. You should select all files and then inspect
the advanced tags. If one single file has a sort tag it should be listed
then.
But I dont know the

I think you speak of the Windows version? The new Mac version is an
alpha version with not all the features the Windows version has. It is a
complete rewrite I think.

What do you have in the "Tag" column in the track listing in MP3tag? If
you have more than one tag type listed, for example both ID3v1 and
ID3v2, this can cause the problems you describe.
To fix this, go into menu option: tools > options > tags > mpeg and set

Hi
same issue here.
I have an other Artist Western Hagen, but album is Westernhagen.
If I check them all, one of them has an artist sort tag.
I think the artist sort tag changes the name.
I´ve tried twice but output of mp3tag is still the same.
