I've tried again with 7.7.6 on my Synology NAS.
Didn't play, but at least it only hung for about 10 seconds before
responding to further actions.
I've now upgraded it to 7.9.2 and both Passion Radio and 80s Rhythm both
play! :)

Maybe time to move your LMS to a Raspberry Pi if it really cannot be
upgraded (even manually).

The stream redirects to a https URL so you need to have an up to date
LMS to handle https.
LMS has had a lot of fixes to handle https. One of the most recent one
(12-Jun) fixes some LMS hangup with https fetchs. There have been a few
more fixes in last 2 days.

I have an O2 Joggler running PnPIII with an LMS running.
I've found that trying to play this webstreams causes LMS to hang, and
the whole device required a reboot to get functionality again.
I'm not sure if it happens on current versions of LMS, but the stream
concerned is Passion Radio:
