I could do with a link and will look out for the 6.0.0-b8 when you do
finish it.
No hurry from me though at all.

When I release the 6.0.0-b8 it will be built in, and should be fine for
any pi device.
It's will still be classified as a beta, mainly due to the PI4
activities.

Is this new driver for the rtl8188fu chipset that I couldn't get
working before. If so I will have a try on my older Pi as its not in a
finished box and is in daily use.
Next question do any pCP versions have this driver in and would be
suitable for early Pi 1, I think.
I couldn't find this thread earlier. Another user asked, but I ended up
building the driver for pCP 6.0.0-b7 (Manual installation needed).
I'll be including the driver by default in newer releases.

I never did get back, sorry, the new dongle works perfectly, quite a bit
more expensive but works.
Thank you all for the help.

Is that the end of the line for the rtl8188fu dongle.
I have bought another that will come next week with a Ralink RT5370
chipset it says and working on a Pi, although the first said the same.
diode84's Profile:
That is not an rtl8188eu based chipset. It is rtl8188fu (Dammit
realtek, use a common driver base)
Source code appears to be here.
https://github.com/ulli-kroll/rtl8188fu
That is the only chipset supported by that driver.

I have just tried 6.0.6 but it does not detect the WiFi adapted and asks
for one to be connected.

Paul sorry I did not know you had replied, my mistake.
I will try your suggestions tomorrow and get back.
I removed the in-tree version of the rtl8188eu driver, and used the 3rd
party driver. Can you try the latest 6.0.0 b6 image?

so I started to look at this, odd that there is a rtl8188eu driver in
the upstream kernel staging area. But I see others are using the 3rd
party driver.
Can you boot your pCP device with an ethernet cable, then after boot is
done. insert your WIFI stick.
Then open up the diagnostics page on

Unfortunately drivers need compiled for the specific kernel, it appears
that the source coded has a maintained source tree on git.
https://github.com/lwfinger/rtl8188eu
pCP does not suppor dkms, so you would have to compile the driver out of
tree, which can be done, but it's a little tricky.
Found this on the t'internet
https://zsiti.eu/wifi-rtl8188eu-raspberry-pi-zero/
but that is just for Raspbian.
It maybe a similar (but slightly different) procedure for piCoreplayer.
If you have a spare card, you could check it out on a raspbian OS whilst
waiting for the "team":)

Hello
I need an external WiFi driver for my player, Pi 3b+ and pCP.
I have a RTL 8188eus usb adapter with an external antenna. I also have a
driver disc with linux driver on it. Unfortunately pCP does not detect
it. Is there any way to use this adapter with its drivers.
Has anyone any ideas.
