VB does have a built in player if the PC hardware is there to support it

Yes, and unless VB comes with a built in player (I don't use VB) you
still need an actual player.

STOP!!!

LMS is a Media Server !
You need a player too !
There is a plugin called localplayer that includes a player from triode
to the LMS.

If you dont have some real hardware plyer or some software player -. lms
would say "No Player"
A IP Adress is something like a phone number - or in other words the
highlander princip -. "there is only one in the universe" each idevice
must be unique

Agree this is probably a networking problem. Player is a Vortex Box. IP
address is 192.168.0.x. I'm not very computer savvy. Are you saying that
the IP address for the Vortex Box and the computer need to be the same?

I have Vortex Box. LMS sees the albums stored on the Vortex Box.

That looks like a networking problem.
Check you don't have a firewall running on the LMS machine
Check the IP addresses on the player and on the LMS machine
Reboot the player (doesn't hurt and can help.)

Is it a hardware player or a software player?

LMS and player are two different things. LMS itself is not a player.

Which player do you have? LMS or player sees the albums (I assume LMS)?

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Cannot play msic

2018-02-08 Thread hdash

I have a Vortex Box. Ripped CD's are viewable on the LMS, but songs
don't play. I get a message that LMS does not find my player despite the
fact that it sees all the albums that I have ripped. What do I need to
do to fix this?
