Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS on a different network than clients
-*In the end*- I had no problem to have the LMS on a different subset/vLAN than my players Maybe I am not answering the question because I am only working with one LMS. For the Logitech Radio I needed to add a remote library, it looks like this can only be done when there is a LMS on the same subnet. It is more simple on a piCorePlayer just put your LMS IP in the Squeezelite settings Question from my side: How can I remove an obsolete remote library from my Logitech Radio? (most likely with SSH; anyone has a suggestion?) (dockered) LMS on a Intel NUC on (v)LAN MAIN - Logitech Radio (on vLAN IoT) - piCorePlayer on Pi4w with BerryDAC (on vLAN IoT) wj2squeeze's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=48122 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116947 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS on a different network than clients
Doesn't work. No router will send on broadcasts to another interface. Imagine if they did it would shut down the entire internet. Your LMS machine must have an interface that is on the same LAN segment as the client. By default LMS will listen on *all* interfaces including VLAN and VPN (useful if the machine has only one physical interface). gordonb3's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71050 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116947 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS on a different network than clients
What you are asking is essentially the same as connecting a client to a remote server over the internet. Pippin talks about doing that with iPeng here -http://penguinlovesmusic.de/ipeng-the-iphone-skin-for-squeezecenter/how-to-use-the-ipeng-application/known-issues/coolios-guide-to-remote-playback/ Over the internet this is NOT advised as your LMS becomes open to hackers and instead you are advised to use a VPN. However the principle for what you want to do is as he states - TCP ports 9000 and 3483 and UDP ports 3483 need to be opened from your client subnet to your server subnet. It is highly unlikely that you will be able to do this using a domestic router. Please explain the components in use and why you are running on two subnets as described. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS on a different network than clients
I don't think a router/switch knows that an application is listening on a particular subnet or even port. I think it is the intermediate routers/switches that need looking at to see if they forward the UDP broadcasts. You could try try forwarding port 3483 to LMS machine. It is the clients that look for LMS. They broadcast ... and that probably is not crossing your subjects. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS on a different network than clients
Hi does anyone know how to make LMS look at a different subnet than the one it's on for auto-detecting clients? LMS(LAN): 10.42.42.10 Client(Wifi): 10.13.37.4 I am able to ping devices and hosts on both networks from each other with no problem (Linux Router handling the traffic). I can also manually specify in the client with the -s cli arg where the server is and it works fine. The question is about LMS auto-finding the devices on the Wifi IP range that it is not on. Looking for a setting basically, that would tell LMS where to look for clients on multiple subnets. Thank you.
