Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Scanning doesn't appear to be running
For the past week or so I tried different versions of LMS, reinstalling OS, tried different flavors of Linux... Always the same results: nothing happened when I initiated scan from the web interface. Today I decided to tried running from the command line (scanner.pl) on the server and voila it worked! Not sure why the scanning from the web interface was busted for me... Thanks, I'll check the permission of /lib/sq/cache tonight. Generally speaking what is the list of folder that sqbox user need permissions to? I have several applets/plugin crashed which may also be related to this? >From the web gui (and from the sqbox client), I was able to play the music by navigating thru "Music folder", so it appears that sqbox user does have permission to the share folder, it only wouldn't scan... The web front look fine. I can nevigate into the media folders with the browse button in the basic settings tab. On the same page it shows "Scanning - View Progress". It doesn't generate a scanner.log and server log has the same error which complained about /usr/share/perl5/Slim/Music/Import.pm line 176 I'll try to edit fstab like you mentioned, but I copied some media files to the local SD card and had the same issue Thanks. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Scanning doesn't appear to be running
I installed Debian on a pogoplug mobile, and then installed LMS 7.9 on it also. However scanning never seem to complete and there's no scan log. In the server log I saw the following message: Slim::Control::Request::execute (1888) Error: While trying to run function coderef [Slim::Control::Commands::wipecacheCommand]: [Can't call method "scanningProcess" without a package or object reference at /usr/share/perl5/Slim/Music/Import.pm line 176. ] I searched online for solution and found that it could be a file permission problem. I did "usermod -a -G root squeezeboxserver", chmod 755 to the folder, and even tried to change SLIMUSER=root (which apparently not allowed), and none of those worked. The music files are on a windows share, I have "//servername/sharename /media/windowsshare cifs username=msusername,password=mspassword,iocharset=utf8,sec=ntlm 0 0" in /etc/fstab and I have no problem seeing the folders and files from the pogoplug. Any suggest would be appreciated. Thank you.
