My experience of Windows 10 is that unless you disable the windows
update service it will reboot itself practically nightly anyway!

Thought I'd follow up on this. I ended up rebooting the server on a
nightly basis. Combining it with an unplugging of the Touch in the
evening and then plugging it in again the next day seems to make it
almost always work :)

A user doesn't have to be logged in. A service (LMS) runs as long as the
machine is switched on.

Thanks! I'll evaluate this for a while. See if works more reliably over
time.
Which are the advantages of running it as a service, generally?

Looks like you might be confusing the mini control app that sits in the
dock near the time with the LMS server itself.

Type -services- in search bar, launch Services window, and see if it is
on the list. Can't remember if it's under "L" or "S"; I think the
latter.

Anyone that can guide me through setting it up running as a service? I'm
being frequently logged out from Spotify in the Spotify protocol handler
- maybe running LMS as a service could help take care of that?

No it's runs when a user logs in .
Starting it as a service means that it runs without anyone login in ,
it's some more settings in windows to make that happen .
It's
In LMS "control panel" Ive marked it to be run at Windows logon - does
that mean that it is run as a service?

Save the following to a batch file:
Code:
@Echo Off
Net stop squeezesvr
Timeout 5
Net start squeezesvr
Open Task Scheduler and create a basic task to run this .BAT file every
morning at 3AM.

He means. Do you run it as a Service or
It's actually always running. But after a night, when my Touch has been
turned off I usually have problems getting Spotify to play. After
restarting LMS it often starts playing (sometimes I also need to power
cykle the Touch as well).

Is there a "good" reason for this?

Hmmm I would have thought that a little .BAT file run as a scheduled
task would do that although I would think there'll be a better way
(I run LMS under Linux so cant help any more I'm sure someone else here
will though)
Sorry, Windows 10 on Intel Compute Stick. Running LMS 7.9
