The other way of creating a mono output is to use an appropriately wired
cable between the Pi and whatever amp or speakers you are using. You can
get 2 x RCA to single RCA if you look around eg

In this time perhaps a strange question but let me explain, I've got a
few scenarios where mono would be the best choice.
All around the garden, lounge area we have a few pi's that run PcP to
produce music. Don't care about stereo, just back ground music which
multiple speakers.
