I, for one, feel a web-based interface is the way to go. No need for a
separate "app" for everything, and with HTML5

What do you want to advertise? The whole music collection? A player
stream?

How much faster is it with a linear PSU compared to a SMPS?

No. Who would pay for the MQA license? Definitely not Logitech. In any
case, why would anyone bother?

I totally agree with your sentiments about systemd, but it does look
like it will be increasingly hard to keep Ubuntu systemd-free going
forward. :(

Unless you have access to another network connection (nearest cafe with

Had a major power outage this morning, but pretty much everything came
back - except that suddenly Spotify is gone after the reboot! :(
I am on Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS, LMS is 7.9.0 from February 2016 (what is the
easiest way to upgrade?), and Spotify Protocol Handler v1.1.1 is
installed.

Apologies for being unclear - it is nowhere. Not in active, not in
inactive, not in 3rd party. It was in active plugins until the power
outage forced a reboot of my server.

Reinstalled LMS (7.9.0 - 1484464959 @ Sun Jan 15 07:33:01 UTC 2017).
Still no official spotify plugin.

The app might use hardwired IP addresses that aren't affected by DNS

I think spotify was having problems due to the massive DDOS attack that
hit many other services too yesterday.

That is how it is programmed to work by default. If we are lucky, there
are no back doors (intended or unintended) to change

And this might belong in the "audiophile" section, unless you have
verified the difference with proper ABX testing.

Suddenly my LMS 8.2.0 (on a dedicated RPi4 with USB disk) has started
responding very slowly or not at all, and the squeezeboxserver process
is taking 100% of CPU.
The only error messages in server.log seem to be a number of these (in
bursts, not all the time):
