I think part of your problem is that you are playing application which
are using pulseaudio but trying to record them using alsa.
If the application you want to record is playing to an alsa output
device then waveinput should use the alsa device "pulse" and arecord in
the conf file

Is your Pi the server and the player or do you have a separate player ?
When playing internet streams normally they go straight to player so any
network errors would appear in the player log (e.g. squeezelite with
logs enabled, SBT with logs enabled) not the server log..

If port 9000 is already in use (typically a Upnp/DLNA server) then LMS
will try the next available port 9001,9002 etc.

The response from LMS server to a broadcast packet will be a UDP packet.
The IP address of the server which sent the packet is a standard part
of UDP header (i.e. source address) - it is NOT in the body..

This is wrong - audio streaming uses http over TCP so all the individual
bytes of data that are sent by LMS will be received correctly

Radio doesn't transcode so it looks like the http / https is done OK for
stream whcih can be played natively but not for
"Playing" for 4-6 sec only with no audio usually means the convert rule
failed and LMS timed out.
Enable logging player.source to debug to see what conversion rules are
being applied.

Other DLNA devices on LAN can cause LMS to be very busy and so delay
sending data to players. Disable the UPnP/ DLNA Media Interface plugin
to fix if this is the issue.
SB Classic player has a smaller buffer than Radio so SB Classic woudl be
more prone to rebuffer if there was a delay in

How were the file encoded ? What settings were used ?
How are you playniug the BBC streams ?
If you are using the squeezenet and the MP3 stream - then VPN won't work
as URL is translated at the SN server.
If you are running a LMS server - using a BBC plugin may work but
depends on the VPN.
If it happens with audio files as well as plugins then it is a network
issue.
If it only happens with GPM plugin then it is more likely to be a plugin
issue and a post on the GPM thread may be more useful.
