I'm running a recent 7.9 build on Windows and get the same results: quick search "Album" pane results are sorted alphabetically by album name only when "full-text search" plugin disabled. That may very well be the source of the sorting problem. AFAIK that option is browser / cookie related. @jjolx: Did you use the Fulltext Search plugin? Since i removed it - the sorting for compilations is fine. There is no sort option - it's sorted purely by album name. For me, it works as expected and I get the correct album name sort order. If you opt to show Years with Albums that will be used as a secondary sort as well.
