It is the date/time of the files that is used to indicate the New Music.
In normal usage you would expect the most recently added to the file
system to be the ones listed as new. But you can defeat this by
modifying the dates of the files.
Also ... you could increase the number of items listed

before the current results.
That's not possible. That list is rendered from the data stored in the
database. Once you re-scan and that data is changed, the results will be
updated accordingly. There's no history of data.

the internal LMS database generates - for example when I browse to the
website for LMS I can access a list of "new music" which is the last n
number of albums added to the LMS database. This information is updated
