Even if the compiled MAX_FD is large, you have to permit local squid to open
more then 1024 file descriptors. The value depends in Linux system on

To chnage it on the fly run ulimit before runing
Hi,
I have a machine in a DMZ that I would like to have act as an FTP
reverse proxy to multiple internal ftp servers. I have been unable to do
this using squid and I cannot move the ftp servers into the DMZ.
Is there anything out there that can do this for me?
Thanks

Hi,
I have a question about cache_mem, hope that someone has some insight
about it.
I run squid 2.6 on AS linux 4, update 3. My server has 8 GB memory, 20
GB virtual memory, 50 GB hard disk for squid cache.
Is it true that allocating large cache_mem would decrease the
performance of the cache
The cache.log file reports the number of file descriptors that the squid
can use.

You can also get it out of the cachemgr output under the info page.
Squid also can tell you where each of its currently open filedescriptors

You have to define the servers, url, domains, etc you're
going to accelerate in the configuration using a combination of
cache_peer + acl + cache_peer_access + never_direct
Ej : you have to accelerate www.example.com that resides on 10.1.1.1,
then your config should be like this
http_port
the traffic is sent using hosts table
#cache ip - site
192.168.1.1 example.com
I am using in my squid configurantion
http_port 192.168.1.1:80
but is not working, I saw in log files:
1165252993.886 0 172.26.8.20 TCP_DENIED/403 1460 GET
http://server6-1/index.htm - NONE/-
have configured samba 3 and quid 2.5 stable 14 fc5

What happens then ; which error is seen in the browser ?
- What's in squid's access.log for the particular request ?

You have to play with the refresh_pattern to get this cached for 5

to instruct Squid to be able to cache url with question marks.
Hope this helps,

Hello list-people,
I am experiencing some strangeness with WCCPv2 on squid 2.6.
My hunch is that the problem is likely on the cisco side.
I have tried this with squid 2.6-stable5 as well as the latest version

Whats the wccp config on the router look like?

Do you see it as an GRE encapsulated ACK on the Ethernet? If not it
