with a restart of Squid. Is this a known bug, can we do anything here?

stops responding as memory usage of squid grows upto 12GB. I have
allocate 8 GB cache_mem.
We are using 64 bit machine running on Suse 10.1.

cache_mem keeps the frequently accessed objects in RAM, while cache_dir
stores the objects in disk.
When you increase cache_mem, reduce the size of cache_dir.
Squid requires more than 1GB of RAM for every 100 GB of cache in hard disk.

numbers wrap over and become negative, then 0 and positive again. Cycle
repeats each 4 GB.

setting up Squid using a large hard drive (if there is one, I'm happy
