- Firstly, I know that Squid is a http proxy -
Could I set up Squid so that POP3 Email [Port 110] Gmail [Port 995 SSL]
and Skype can go via Squid?
Do I have to use iptables?
I running Debian.

have set up Squid 2.7 on Debian, I used Synaptic package manager to
install it, I did the entire config, followd the guide here:
http://doxfer.com/Webmin/SquidProxyServer, everthing went well and
seemed to be working.
But, in reality it was not caching.
I copied thsi pice from the access.log
Is caching of torrent downloads possible with squid?
I have tried downloading a torrent via squid cache and then downloaded
it again, but it did not take it from the cache
Please advise
i am using squid 2.7 with videocache, everything seems to be working
fine but i notice that clients sometimes just loses connection, for eg,
when download mail.
Is there a timeout setting in squid? if so perhaps i could make the
timeout longer

I want the Client PC to use the Squid Proxy Server for internet.
There are 2 ways i have in mind
1st option: Set
My wireless setup is as follows
Client PC --- Mikrotik-Squid Cache Server--Internet
Do you suggest that I should configure PCQ (equal/fair bandwidth
sharing/distribution) on the Mikrotik routerboard or should i leave the
bandwidth sharing to Squid as suggested by Amos?

I have squid set up and running
I don't think it is caching ftp/downloads
I tried to download a file ( 6 MB), and then tried to redownload it and
it took the same time
Please guide me to the correct places to configure squid to cache downloads

Can squid do 'fair bandwidth sharing' ?
What i mean is, if there is 1 user online on a 4mg line, that user will
be using the entire 4mg line speed, and if there are 2 users online,
each user will have 2mg line speed, and so on.
