i am using now squid 3.2.0.5 and it works fine for a weak and then the cpu rocks for like 200%.

i'm almost sure it's related to logs.

ubuntu 10.04

i have tried squid 3.2.0.7 but i got other problems.

i want to recompile squid as a basic transparent proxy and to make sure it will work fine and the ways to debug the
cpu high load.

my current compiling options are:

Squid Cache: Version 3.2.0.5
configure options: '--prefix=/opt/squid3205' '--includedir=/include' '--mandir=/share/man' '--infodir=/share/info' '--localstatedir=/opt/squid3205/var' '--disable-maintainer-mode' '--disable-dependency-tracking' '--disable-silent-rules' '--enable-inline' '--enable-async-io=8' '--enable-storeio=ufs,aufs,diskd' '--enable-removal-policies=lru,heap' '--enable-delay-pools' '--enable-cache-digests' '--enable-underscores' '--enable-icap-client' '--enable-follow-x-forwarded-for' '--enable-digest-auth-helpers=ldap,password' '--enable-negotiate-auth-helpers=squid_kerb_auth' '--enable-external-acl-helpers=ip_user,ldap_group,session,unix_group,wbinfo_group' '--enable-arp-acl' '--enable-esi--disable-translation' '--with-logdir=/opt/squid3205/var/log' '--with-pidfile=/var/run/squid3205.pid' '--with-filedescriptors=65536' '--with-large-files' '--with-default-user=proxy' '--enable-linux-netfilter' '--enable-ltdl-convenience'

i will disable any auth helper and delay-pools.

any recommendations will be nice.

the squid 3.2.07 have almost the same options.

Thanks

Eliezer
