[squid-users] Errors Compiling Squid on Windows Server using Cygwin

2021-04-23 Thread Brian Hall
Hello,

I have searched the previous posts and I can only find a mention of this issue
from back in 2018 where the solution was to use 3.5. I would like to use 4.12
instead of older versions because of the security concerns.

The following is the errors the compiler gave me:

Your Squid is detecting the existence of Windows OS headers and trying
to build a helper which has bugs in your environment.

This type of problem is why the Diladele Cygwin instructions (and other
OS cross-building) list the helpers to build explicitly whereas native
builds can just use the auto-detect by ./configure. Doing the same for
your build will both avoid this issue and reduce the size of your Squid
build.

Please open a bug report in our bugzilla about this so it does not get
forgotten. I am not aware of anyone working on Windows bugs right now so
no ETA on when it might get fixed.

Re: [squid-users] Errors in cache.log

Hi.
Another question in reference to this topic off delay pools.
if i have "internet-limitation" (a group with 100kb for all webs) and i want
that users of that group have different youtube bandwith... is this
posible??

I need to do another group with the user of that group that i want they have
different bandwith for youtube? if i do that i will split
"internet-limitation" in "youtubegroup512kb", youtubegroup256kb... but... in
this way.. i have to give http_access for other groups to?? (youtube512/256)
or just because that users are in "internet-limitation"... It is not
necessary?

i think im completely wrong about this.. but i really dont know how
to do what i want.

Thanks.

#Pools para ancho de Banda
delay_pools 3

###VELOCIDAD PARA REDES SOCIALES
delay_class 1 1
delay_parameters 1 1/10
delay_access 1 allow adminis redes_sociales !stream
delay_access 1 deny all

#Limitar Video Streaming a 20k
delay_class 2 1
delay_parameters 2 2/10
delay_access 2 allow adminis stream !redes_sociales
delay_access 2 deny all

#Ancho de Banda Administracion
delay_class 3 1
delay_parameters 3 256000/256000
delay_access 3 allow adminis !stream !redes_sociales
delay_access 3 deny all

So, here i have 3 different banwith for same people (adminis) in differents
webs... like 10kb if they go to "facebook", 20kb, if they go to "youtube",
and 256kb for all the rest.

this would be fine?

Thanks!

Hi,
Thanks a lot.
But, i really dont get something...
about delay pools

you tell me that

And the same for the others delay pools...
But, what i think that im doing is apply for example

the web pages of "redes_sociales"(social network) to "adminis"... i mean,
that bandwith for those webs... and then the other delay pools for bandwith
for youtube, and other delay pool for all the other webs

it is not right??

Thansk!

Firstly, it is not one message. It is 4 and one partial message.

They may be related log entries, or maybe not. It is hard to say when
they are occuring across ~12 minutes. A single TLS handshake should be
much faster than that, so I suspect they are a mix of at least three
different transactions worth of info.

The below error is not necessarily IPv6 related. It shows an IPv6
address because you configured "dns_v4_first on", so the _last_ thing to
be tried was that IPv6 address.

What it means is that *all* the IPv4 and IPv6 ways to contact the server
are not working.

He installed a different verioon of OpenSSL and used the --with-openssl=
configure option to tell Squid exactly which library to build against.

The early 1.0.0 had symbol issues and all signs are pointing at those
-fips libraries being patched with ABI breaking stuff.

Thanks Nipun. A patch is going to be a much better option for me given the
difficulty of dealing with building RPMs and mock environments etc.

I understand part 2 of your suggestions but I'm unsure how to find out what my
abl version is if I run openssl version I get the following output: OpenSSL
1.0.0-fips 29 Mar 2010

Should I be replacing all instances of '0x104fL' with '1.0.0-fips' in
certificate_db.cc?

Sorry - Im pretty new to this.

Thanks

ABI version is defined in opensslv.h. Something like #define
OPENSSL_VERSION_NUMBER 0x1003L
Generally openssl header files install in /usr/include/openssl/

 how exactly?

He installed a different verioon of OpenSSL and used the --with-openssl=
configure option to tell Squid exactly which library to build against.

The early 1.0.0 had symbol issues and all signs are pointing at those -fips
libraries being patched with ABI breaking stuff.

One more way to fix this is, .
 replace all #if OPENSSL_VERSION_NUMBER = 0x104fL
 with
 #if OPENSSL_VERSION_NUMBER = your-openssl-abi-version

 and replace all
const char **row = (const char **)sk_OPENSSL_PSTRING_value(...

[squid-users] errors when building with ssl-crtd for CentOS 6

2012-08-09 Thread Dan Charlesworth
Hi

Apparently I'm having the exact same issue as Michael was in this thread:
http://www.squid-cache.org/mail-archive/squid-users/201204/0016.html

Differences are:
- I'm using 3.1.20
- I'm using CentOS 6.3 with openssl-1.0.0-20
- I'm building an RPM via mock

This is the configure section from the spec file:

I don't quite understand what Michael did to work-around it. I would just like
to know if this can be worked around given my environment and if so, how
exactly?

I'll be very sad if there's no possible way to have Squid 3.x w/ ssl-bump under

[squid-users] errors on Make squid 3.1.10, ubuntu 10.04.1 server

2011-01-19 Thread mbruell

Hi,

I'm trying to build a transparent proxy using squid 3.1.10, iptables 1.4.10,
and a custom kernel based on the standard kernel for ubuntu server 10.04
LTS, but using 2.6.37 source with the following additional kernel configs:

NF_CONNTRACK=m
NETFILTER_TPROXY=m

To build squid, I run the .configure with the following options:

and it appears to work okay (though I can post the config.log if that's
helpful).

However, when I run make I see errors. These are last few lines of the

You have a problem with your libcap package.

Make sure it is a libcap2 library package and matching libcap-dev
headers package version.

You could use the Lucid 3.1.10 source package for an easier build:

Two possible causes:
The less common one is NAT failure or overflow in the box TCP systems.

This is more usually seen when receiving non-NAT requests in a port
flagged to perform NAT processing on the traffic. It is a needless
security hole opening CVE-2009-0801 to any client. Use two ports, one
for regular traffic and one for NAT intercept traffic.

Ignore unless you require version *2* of TPROXY.
It's a file created by custom kernel patching for that obsolete version of
TPROXY. Current Kernels and Squid support version 4.

Hi there
I'm using a squid proxy with a youtube rewrite module to cache
the vids. It's working ~fine except for *some* vids that won't load.

When
trying to view the vids, youtube says : An error occurred, please try again
 later.

This isn't really relevant, but in the store.log, here what I get
 :

When
I remove the store_url_rewrite part into the squid.conf, it does works
 fine.

Note this is only happening to *some* vids, the rest is woking fine
 and being cached properly.

Here's my store_url_rewrite script

I really don't know

The DNS server being used by your system for lookups is having major
problems.
You will need to do some serious debugging to find out why. Things to
look for are DNS server overload, traffic congestion, lack of recursive
queries, etc.

Dear Amos,

Thanks for the reply.
We are using the same DNS servers for our existing proxy server which is
ISA2000 is working properly without any problems.
We want to shift from MS-ISA2000 proxy server to Linux Squid proxy server, so
we are building up this new proxy server.

More over if I access the internet from the Ubuntu proxy server itself, we
don't get any such errors.

Can you / anyone let me know how can we resolve these issue.
Also for your information that, so far ubuntu server is just a member server in
our enviornment there is no DNS server configured in Ubuntu server.
May be this will help you for finding some outputs.

page / site opens. I'm not able to figure out why is this happening.
The error appears for any domain is not particular to any domain.

Can anyone help me out in this.

I'm not able to bring the server in live mode due to this problem.

The DNS server being used by your system for lookups is having major
problems.
You will need to do some serious debugging to find out why. Things to
look for are DNS server overload, traffic congestion, lack of recursive
queries, etc.

Do the following

nameserver 10.0.0.2
nameserver 10.0.0.3

comment out one by one and run

RE: [squid-users] errors while opening sites

2008-12-01 Thread Sameer Shinde

Remy,

I'm using /etc/resolv.conf file have two entries in it.

like

nameserver 10.0.0.1
nameserver 10.0.0.2

tried to check the time host which is somewhere in the range of 48-50, which
seems reasonably o.k.

I'm also using the default cache size, which I want to increase to some extend.
But I'm sure this is not a cache issue.

Its surely something related to DNS name resolution problem.

Check that negative_ttl is set to 0 seconds (default when unset on older

negative_dns_ttl is at least 10 seconds (or unset for default).

Also check that they are actually being generated by your own squid, your
upstream ISP may be having trouble with an old transparent proxy.

 Dear Mariel,

This is not happening about any particular site. This can happening with
 any site
in next 3-5mins time the same site/web page works properly.

 Just a thought.
Check that negative_ttl is set to 0 seconds (default when unset on older
squid was 5 minutes which is suspiciously similar) and that
negative_dns_ttl is at least 10 seconds (or unset for default).

Also check that they are actually being generated by your own squid, your
upstream ISP may be having trouble with an old transparent proxy.

More over if I access the internet from the Ubuntu proxy server itself,
we don't get any such errors.

Can you / anyone let me know how can we resolve these issue.
Also for your information that, so far ubuntu server is just a member

I'm not able to bring the server in live mode due to this problem.

The DNS server being used by your system for lookups is having major
 problems.
You will need to do some serious debugging to find out why. Things to
look for are DNS server overload, traffic congestion, lack of
 recursive
 queries, etc.

 Amos,

The negative_ttl was set to Defaults, which I've now set to 0.
The negative_dns_ttl is unset ( as a Default), so I've not made any changes
 in this.
 Let's see if this works.

Also check that they are actually being generated by your own squid, your
 didn't understand this...?

upstream ISP may be having trouble with an old transparent proxy.
Do u mean this is an old proxy, as I've updated all the packages for Ubuntu
from there repository site. 2.6 is the only latest version which I could
 get.
Although I know, in real it is not the latest version, as the latest stable
version of squid is 3.0 stable 10, to which I want to anyway update.
But I was waiting to resolve this problem 1st once everything works
properly, I wanted to upgrade it to 3.0
So far I'm searching for the documentation for, how to upgrade the squid 3.0
in ubuntu as some parameters are changed in Ubuntu
I need to do the customized installation.
Anyone Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: [squid-users] Errors in Cache log of Squid-2.6.STABLE13 Parent-Child on Cygwin

2007-07-23 Thread Santosh Rani

Resolved.

I rechecked my firewall. Found that Squid.exe under Cygwin was allowed
access. I further allowd access to Squid.client. Then reconfiguring
the Squid gave me following error:

2007/07/24 09:17:46| commBind: Cannot bind socket FD 8 to
192.168.1.10:8080: (112) Address already in use

This triggered me to believe that I should have two NICs in my machine
for both the Squids.
Installing another NIC and then binding both Squid instances to two
different NICs solved the issue.

Now there is no error. Works fine as desired.

Sir, In a similar fashion can I use two different instances of Squid
under Windows with two different NICs with different Service name from
SquidNT Binaries? I wish to achieve this because under Cygwin I have
to restart Squid everytime the computer boots.

Many many thanks for your kind help, Sir.

[squid-users] Errors during Log Analysis using Calamaris

2007-03-16 Thread Manish Kathuria

I have squid-2.6.STABLE9-1 running on Fedora Core 6 stably and I am
trying to use calamaris-2.59-1 for log analysis. While running
calamaris, the following errors are generated in the log report:

Invalid conversion in sprintf: %t at /usr/bin/calamaris line 3306,
 line 134591.
Use of uninitialized value in sprintf at /usr/bin/calamaris line 3306,
 line 134591.
Invalid conversion in sprintf: %a at /usr/bin/calamaris line 3306,
 line 134591.
Use of uninitialized value in sprintf at /usr/bin/calamaris line 3306,
 line 134591.
Invalid conversion in sprintf: %; at /usr/bin/calamaris line 3306,
 line 134591.
Use of uninitialized value in sprintf at /usr/bin/calamaris line 3306,
 line 134591.
Invalid conversion in sprintf: %v at /usr/bin/calamaris line 3306,
 line 134591.
Use of uninitialized value in sprintf at /usr/bin/calamaris line 3306,
 line 134591.

Line 134591 happened to be the last line in the log file. These errors
are repeated a number of times and in addition the output report is
full of large number (thousands) of blank lines and a few junk
characters also. Surprisingly the log analysis is also carried out and
a proper report is generated along with these errors. I have used the
same version of calamaris on squid running on FC3 as well as CentOS
4.3 without any errors. What could be the reason behind these errors ?
I have not selected any log format in squid.conf leaving the same at
default setting none. Do I need to select any specific format ?

Thanks,

Re: [squid-users] Errors when Starting Squid

2007-03-02 Thread squid3
 Folks,
When I start squid, i get the following errors:

 helperOpenServers: Starting 10 'sqred.plx' processes
 2007/03/01 21:45:50| ipcCreate: CHILD: c:/sqred/sqred.plx: (8) Exec
 format error

snip many duplicates

I have noticed that it is due to this command in the .conf file

 url_rewrite_program c:/sqred/sqred.plx

When this line is commented, the proxy works fine.

Does anyone have an idea as to what the Exec Format error is?

 Thanks

 Alan

This is squid attempting to start its child processes. As it does so
Windows returns the Exec format error error and causes squid to abandon
the startup procedure.

The Windows Server Documentation indicates this error is given out by
windows when a binary file cannot be executed. Usually on corrupt
binaries.

Check that the c:/sqred/sqred.plx file is actually an executable format in
win32 acceptable format. The windows command line should be able to
execute it or give you a better description of the problem.

RE: [squid-users] Errors when Starting Squid

 Hi Amos,
I gave up on the windows port, I installed again on FC5 and then run
again.

Once I had setup permissions on the scripts, modified squid.conf to suit
the script name etc... Squid started and is now running perfectly with a
basic re-write script so all it does is put STDIN to STDOUT.

Now I need to understand what coming in from STDIN and manipulate it :-)

If I get some time I will try to work out why the windows port wont run
the .plx file.

If I open cmd line in windows, and type the script name, it runs
perfectly, so I am not entirely sure why its not running when called by
squid

Thanks

Alan

You should read the Windows Compatibility Notes in the release notes
of Squid 2.6:
On Windows you must also specify the command interpreter needed for
the execution of scripts.

Alan,
A couple of possibilities here. First, when you open the command line
do you just type the script name? If so and it works, are there any
other sqred.plx files on the disk (somewhere in the path)? Is the
folder sqred in the path?

Have you tried changing / to \ in the squid.conf command?

Install OpenLDAP development files, or do not tell configure to build

And if you are installing Squid from source, why don't you install the
current supported version 2.6.STABLE5 instead of an obsolete and no
longer supported 2.5.STABLE12 version?

Sorry forgot to CC the list on my last reply.
If you are not sure you are going to be using ldap then I would say remove ldap
from your build and then be done with it.

--enable-basic-auth-helpers=NCSA,SMB

Can I ignore these errors (as I am not sure if I will be using LDAP) and
 go ahead with squid configuration?

It appears that you do not have the OPENldap headers installed, you may
want to install the correct ldap development suite for your system.

[squid-users] Errors during make

2006-09-01 Thread Robert Shatford
Hey guys, this is my first post on this forum, so I would like to say
hello.

I am having troubles when I run make. It throws a bunch of errors
that I don't understand. I was wondering if it outputs those errors
to
log somewhere and then I was wondering how do I find out what these
errors mean. I am very new to Linux and Squid, this is my third
attempt
at making a server and it is the furthest I have gotten. Any help
would
be wonderful.

Probablly you did not upgrade your libxml2.
If you configure with ssl, you need the newest openssl.
I have set up Squid on Linux, FreeBSD and Windows, all accelerator
mode with SSL. I can help you in my chat server at
http://breakevilaxis.org if you want do the same mode.
I have scripts to create all SSL certificates and files. If you are
not interest in accelerator mode with SSL, then I would not help you.
I do not have time to learn other mode.

I've checked the directory and it's fully readable for the user. I'm using

Is there any way I can log what's the URL squid tries to find for the error

Thanks again,

It has always done this.. Microsoft does not think people can surive if
they see the actual error messages and prefer working around the issue in
the browser rather than making their web server return human
understandable error messages.

It is supposedly possible ot convince MSIE to show the error despite being
configured to show human friendly error messages by making sure the
error response is sufficiently large. More details available in an MS KB

compiling squid (version 2.5.STABLE3) configured with
--enable-basic-auth-helpers=helpers I receive compiling errors of type
   FATAL: file.h not found
with helper LDAP the files are: ldap.h and lber.h
with helper PAM the file is: pam_appl.h
with helper SASL the file is: sasl.h
I suppose I need some libabry in order to compile squid with this
options, is it correct? In this case, which libraries I need?
Thnak you for your time,
Daniele Ricci.

Then you are missing the OpenLDAP development headers and libraries.

with helper SASL the file is: sasl.h

Then you are missing the SALS development headers and libraries.

Thanks for your help.
It looks like I need to sort the acl file and remove any entries which are
in there multiple times. I guess that comes from catting a couple of acls
from the internet into one file.

I see the Connection reset by peer is normal, so I won't worry about that
one any more.

Problems detected while reading the config file on startup is only
reported on the console, and only if you use the -N flag. This is
because Squid does not know to report into cache.log before the
configuration file has been read as it is the configuration file which
tells Squid the path to the cache.log file..
Problem while reading the config file during reconfigure is reported in
cache.log.

This can be found in the FAQ and in the squid-users arvhices. If you limit
the search to the constant parts of the error message then search engines
will give better hits.

The cache.log file has a huge amount of entries regarding an acl file of
sites to block as well as some other errors. The server has been HUPped
before without too many problems (certainly not the subdomain error). Has
it read the same entries in twice or something? I don't see how a 2LD can
 be a subdomain of itself..

In Squid eyes it is..

but it is true that we could change this warning to handle the case of
exact duplicates differently, but in any case it should be pretty evident
what the problem with your acl definition is.

Hmm.

Well. We stopped and started the squid server instead of HUPping it and no
errors. Go figure.
I still get the FD errors though and can't find anything on google.

[squid-users] Errors Starting Squid

2003-11-05 Thread Thron
Hi,
I actually have 2 different questions.

1st. I have squid starting in a cron job with the
command [EMAIL PROTECTED] /some/where/RunCache ” Now this
starts the service but the process doesn’t change
users it runs as root.

2nd. after boot no one can connect to the internet
through the proxy. This error below shows up and then
everyone can connect.

login: Nov 4 15L50:30 server-name kernel: pid 445
(squid), uid 1001: exited on signal 6

Nov 4 15:50:30 server-name squid[445]:
authenticateNTLMHandleReply: called with no result
string

How can I resolve these problems? Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Thron
