I did some tests of some Cairo-ized activities on an XO-1 running 11.3.0. Turtle Art launched faster with Cairo than in the Drawable version; Abacus a bit slower. Executing a program in TA took no noticeable performance hit and the results are much nicer due to the anti-aliasing. With Abacus,

Walter -- is the source code for the cairo-ized version available? I made a decent start at GTK3-izing TurtleArt (http://git.sugarlabs.org/~cscott/turtleart/cscott-gtk3/commits/gtk3) and the missing piece is to replace a lot of GdkPixmap stuff with cairo calls. If that code is already written,
