Rainbow has now landed in Debian Unstable ("sid"), and should be included in
the next release of both Debian and Ubuntu.
Some testing will be needed to determine whether it is sensible to enable
Rainbow by default in Ubuntu/Debian Sugar installations, but full
compatibility either way sho

Bernie has been gently pushing me to revive some of my older security
work. To that end, we've pushed the first versions of rainbow-0.8.x into
Ubuntu [1] and Fedora [2], rebased the necessary sugar patches [3], and
rewritten my sys_disablenetwork() attempt into cool new RLIMIT_NETWORK
