Thanks.

Are the results published for the board or members? If so, I must
have missed them. Summary form; e.g. search success by month or year,
most common keywords used, etc.

The Google verification file(s) are on the site for two reasons;

1. Access to Sugar Labs content over Google web (Knowledge Graph)

2. Improving SEO

Who have access to this files?

1. Samson Goddy
2. Dave Crossland

Why do we need this file;
1. To better solve 1 and 2 which seems to be Sugar Labs problem on the web
search. Do we have the right? it depends of what angle the question is
coming from. But Dave and I are working on the marketing team. Is it
removable? yes, I can easily take it off. Would it affect Sugar Labs? maybe.

So why use this tools? why do we have facebook for marketing ? why use
github instead of Gitlab?

The questions is what is our target audience? where are they coming from?
hat do they like? Do we ever what to approach them? Can we do without these
tools?

Do you have better alternative to Facebook? Google Analytics? an better
"open source" way to boost SEO?

All these questions are open to the community.

Thanks, that's very welcome.

But please begin contributing as soon as you can; we need contributors
to have a good record of contributing otherwise GCI students won't be
helped properly.

See these links;

Others have offered to contribute lately, but I've seen no
contributions yet. Don't be another one. ;-)

Thanks Peter,

I've copied the Localization list and I will look into it myself.

It sounds like they may be recreating part of what is present in open-tran

http://open-tran.eu/projects.html

Although the ability to populate a POT is not something that open-tran
has, nor does it accept uploads of other PO files. I do encourage
developers to take a look when phrasing new strings to see if an
already coined upstream phrase will do, so that we leverage efforts
like this as much as feasible.

Users familiar with current versions of Virtaal (the off-line PO
editor from the makers of Poolte) will be familiar with the fact that
it has a built-in suggestion feature that accesses yet another
translations database called Amagama and even the Bing translator, but
it does this while you are going through the PO line by line, so it is
more interactive.

http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/virtaal/amagama

I believe this feature will be making it's way into Pootle in a near
future release.

In the end of the day, there is no substitute for the judgement of a
human translator, but given the common vocabulary that so many
programs draw from for menus (Edit, Copy, Paste, etc.) I do think
there is a place for efforts like OSTD (even though in Sugar we
translate Delete two different ways in Spanish, on purpose, based on
context).

I just wish they would all work together to build one big tool and
database rather than a lot of fragmented efforts :-(
