Hello, this is an excellent question (-: The need for calibration depends on the desired accuracy level. - the default settings will produce a uniform vehicle fleet in regard to the desired speed level. (easiest solution is to add the parameter speedDev with an appropriate value for your case) - even when using different vehicle classes (i.e. passenger and truck) the fleet will be homogeneous within each class (no variation in length, acceleration, lane-changing behavior etc). If you want variation you must specify (or generate) a distribution. See http://sumo.dlr.de/wiki/Tools/Misc#createVehTypeDistributions.py - by default, all vehicles have the same emission class
However, in my experience the bigger point to worry about is usually the modelling of the road network in urban areas. Traffic lights, turning lanes and lane-to-lane connectivity can have an even bigger impact on accuracy when importing a network from an external source (such as OpenStreetMap). regards, Jakob 2016-11-27 15:27 GMT+01:00 Ayalew Belay Habtie <ayalewbe...@gmail.com>: > Hello Sumo user community, > > I used SUMO and simulated road traffic flow on a sample road network with > a free flow traffic demand.
