[freenet-support] can't install
well, just tried to get the latest version after some years and stayed hoplessly unsuccessful. I keep getting a freenet nodewhich dosen't listen on when trying the headless install I found a reason: $ ./bin/1run.sh Enabling the auto-update feature Detecting tcp-ports availability... Can not bind fproxy to : let's try 8889 instead. Can not bind any socket on 127.0.0.1: IT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN\! Make sure your loopback interface is properly configured. Delete Freenet\'s directory and retry. no idea why this is these are the last few lines of an strace of "java -jar bin/bindtest.jar " munmap(0xb76ca000, 136735) = 0 mmap2(NULL, 331776, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS|MAP_STACK, -1, 0) = 0xb6a06000 mprotect(0xb6a06000, 4096, PROT_NONE) = 0 clone(child_stack=0xb6a56494, flags=CLONE_VM|CLONE_FS|CLONE_FILES|CLONE_SIGHAND|CLONE_THREAD|CLONE_SYSVSEM|CLONE_SETTLS|CLONE_PARENT_SETTID|CLONE_CHILD_CLEARTID, parent_tidptr=0xb6a56bd8, {entry_number:6, base_addr:0xb6a56b70, limit:1048575, seg_32bit:1, contents:0, read_exec_only:0, limit_in_pages:1, seg_not_present:0, useable:1}, child_tidptr=0xb6a56bd8) = 21970 futex(0xb6a56bd8, FUTEX_WAIT, 21970, NULL gruss mlo -- Dipl.-Ing. [freenet-support] Freenet reconnection issues
There was a bug "freenet does not reconnect properly": When a Freenet node is hibernated or its IP address changes, it would take *ages* to reconnect, it would not start announcing straight away or it would take hours to get back up to a reasonable number of connections. I think that 1241-pre1 may have fixed this, so if you have this bug, please test 1241-pre1. Thanks. You can get this by means of update.sh testing (linux/mac) or update.cmd testing (windows). You might need to update the scripts manually from https://checksums.freenetproject.org/update.sh (or update.cmd) if they haven't been used for some time and give an error message. Alternatively, use the jar I posted to freenet (this should replace your freenet.jar): http://127.0.0.1:/CHK%40Y7OIgh0uxo04Uf2pjN4Ni2dfctOlb-YN5yWlud2VspU,TWXc1Yc%7EjDMWToabe2tbaZU-i6pAuFyY8ESkwGFfuaI,AAIC--8/freenet-cvs-snapshot.jar signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part. ___ Support mailing list Support@freenetproject.org http://news.gmane.org/gmane.network.freenet.support Unsubscribe at http://emu.freenetproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support Or mailto:support-requ...@freenetproject.org?subject=unsubscribe

This looks like the Debian Squeeze ipv6 bug: http://new-wiki.freenetproject.org/Installing_on_POSIX#Debian_Squeeze (It might also happen on other platforms, but I'm not certain.)
