[freenet-support] [freenet-dev] EasyFreenet: Kaffe bundled Freenet distribution

2002-07-15 Thread Marco A. Calamari

Try this.

Hi all,

Giani Bianchini (thanks Gianni!) a colleague of FLUG
(Firenze Linux User Group) wrote an updatable,
self contained chrooted distro of Freenet
  bundled with patched Kaffe 1.0.6.

EasyFreenet worked quite well for our purposes, and can be dowloaded
  here.

http://firenze.linux.it/~giannibi/easyfreenet/

The main advantage of EasyFreenet is to shield new node
operators from installation patching quirks related with kaffe
  and with the jail setup

There is a construction set too, to build different
  version of the jailed installation.
Chrooted installation need to include some libraries
that can be incompatible with some GNU/Linux installations.
Just put in your taste of kaffe freenet and run.

The .bin version works quite well on MDK 8.2, Debian woody
most of RH 7.2 installation I tested. Untested on RH7.3

Further developement (call for collaboration!) can include
the possibility of a SSL tunneled installation.

Jobjar will be happy ;). Or, at least, people that fight
for free software and feel bad due to the fact that Freenet
nodes run mostly on non-free JVM's will be
Keep Freenet Kaffe-compatible; this is not a secondary goal ...

Well... it's made for GNU/Linux, not for OpenBSD...

I get a 404 message at that address.

The host has changed IP address a couple of weeks ago, the new records
should have propagated correctly by now. Make sure firenze.linux.it
 resolves to 195.110.124.18 .

firenze.linux.it resolves to 195.110.99.218, and the server there gives
a 404 message.

Re: [freenet-support] freenet + kaffe

2002-07-15 Thread Thomas Formella

Have a look at the freenet wiki:
http://freenetproject.org/wiki/index.php?FrontPage
Search for Java Runtime Enviroment or FreeBSD Install
Good luck !

It complains that GNU gmp not found:

 java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError: [exception was kaffe.util.SupportDisabled

BUT I have GNU gmp installed:

 #ls -al /usr/lib/libgmp* ~/freenet-20020713 12:16 Mon 15

What's wrong? Can freenet work with kaffe at all?

Operating system is OpenBSD 2.7, so binary java distribution from sun is
 out of question.

[freenet-support] I have a question about your organization

2002-07-15 Thread D Lane

Hello, and thanks for your time. I have a question and am wondering if your
organization's members could either help me with your resources or guide me
in the proper direction.

I am interested in getting some movie editing software, etc. Software such
as: Movie Magic Scheduling and Budgeting, Final Cut Pro 3, etc. I have some
screenwriting software that I'd be willing to trade in return for these
items. I read about your organization on the 'Net and am therefore sending
this message.

Thanks for your assistance with this matter.
