On checking the environment I see my data store was wiped. Down from 11+ Gb when I lasted check to less than 700 Mb. I haven't looked at the logs because I don't know if anyone cares, and I wouldn't know what to look for. But I'd be happy to do so if anyone has an interest in this and wants to

forget windows 98. it wasn't designed to run programs bigger than notepad. in detail freenet and fiw use up so many network connections that win 98 can not deliver that much. it's a design flaw of win 98 and there doesn't exist a fix. although there is a workaround which might work: you can try
