It looks like a permission problem. Where are you trying to install the
program ? You should check that your user as write and execute rights on
the folder you specified.

[freenet-support] [freenet-dev] Unable to install Freenet 0.7 on Ubuntu 8.04 and Java 1.5

Well change it if you don't like it! It's a catchall test: we try to use
the Sha1Test class to download a file from the mirrors... and if that
fails we display this template.

As far as I know they are at least two jvm bugs which trigger it:
- the infamous openjdk bug which has already been fixed upstream
- the lack of implementation of any KeyStore on gnu-classpath

You need a 1.5 JVM. There should be one available from apple.com if you don't
already have it.

Try logs/freenet-latest.log (after duplicating the above, since the log is
rotated hourly). There is probably an ERROR, maybe a NullPointerException ...
search for it.

Oh and don't open 127.0.0.1:9481/ in a browser. Open : in a browser, :9481
is for client apps (Thaw, Frost, FMS etc).

[freenet-support] freenet not working with openjdk/icedtea

2008-07-29 Thread Matthew Toseland
It's a problem with the installer. Certain versions of OpenJDK have bugs that
cause it not to work. Unfortunately the version in Ubuntu 8.04 doesn't have
the needed fix.

This is very strange. You have http://127.0.0.1:/ open in the browser and
you click the links and they produce an error message? What browser are you
using?

What if you go to http://127.0.0.1:/alerts/ ? What happens?

Most of your other problems are related to your not running the first-time
wizard (because you used the console mode installer):
http://127.0.0.1:/wizard/
Please go to that URL and follow the prompts to configure your node.
And as Volodya pointed out, please make sure your node is running first.
(Start it up with run.sh start if necessary).
