Hi list!
Well, as you know us Opera users have the pleasure of being able todo quick
searches using shortcut keys like "g blah blah blah" to search google for
blah blah blah. And after seeing the Usability improvement ideas thread I
set out on the quest to enable us to quickly jump to provided KEY@ links
using a simple keypress like we can with google. Now, according to the Opera
web-site and documentation you are unable todo this! But, as with most
programs you'll be surprised what you can do with a little fiddling, so I
started digging and I can now jump to any provided keys just by typing in fr
then pasting in the link I want to goto. Whereas before you either had to
type in the address of your node and port or clicking on a personal bar
button and then paste in the link.

So, here is how todo it!

Close down any Opera sessions you have open.

Locate your profile directory for example it may be in
E:\Freenet\Opera\Profile\ and open the file search.ini (not the search.ini
in Opera\ )

Now, go down to the bottom of the file and paste the following in:

[Search Engine 40]
Name=Freenet
URL=http://127.0.0.1:8888/%s
Query=
Key=fr
Is post=0
Has endseparator=0
Encoding=utf-8
Search Type=0
Verbtext=17063
Nameid=0
Position=-1

If you run your freenet node on another machine just type in the IP and port
inplace of the example I listed above, but make sure you have %s after the /
You can change Key to anything you want to as long as it isn't already taken
like 'f' is for example.

These instructions work on Opera 7.20 and 7.21 And in theory should work
back to Opera 6 just change [Search Engine 40] to be the next number above
the one before it if it is different.

And this is reason #283791827983 why Opera is much better than anything else
:)

I hope my fellow Opera users find this as helpful as I have :)

Regards,
Lee Stoneman

PS Hope it was okay to post to both lists
