Hi,

The following bugs have reoccurred in on Win95 OS for beta version release
0.3.9.1:

1- User is not able to see all the command/push/tab buttons when accessing
freenet app from desktop.
2- User is able to see two text boxes with push buttons request and insert.
3- Tried to request artists in text box.request but wasn't successful.
Received Nework Error message.

Is it possible that the app was not installed in the correct directory?
Currently, it's installed in default directory, C:/program
files/netscape/program/setup.

I have attached defect file to further illustrate the above defects.

Please let me know if you need additional information regarding this matter.

Regards,

wmak7

Introduction

This is FProxy, it is a part of Freenet which allows the user to access Freenet through their web browser. FProxy lets you request information from Freenet and have it presented to you by your web browser. Essentially it lets you surf Freenet as if you were surfing the World Wide Web.

Requesting keys from Freenet

To request a file you must know the "key". To find some stuff that others have inserted you can try one of these "freesites":

Be aware that it can take up to a minute to request some information from Freenet. Your node will learn how to query the network more efficiently as you use it, and so you will notice that performance improves with time. Additionally, the more popular the key you are requesting the less time it will take. The reason for the delay is that Freenet must search for information in a manner that protects your anonymity.

Fproxy has been designed so that if you download a web-page from Freenet, the page can have hyperlinks to other documents within Freenet which FProxy will download as if you had just clicked on a hyperlink on the WWW.

Inserting keys to Freenet

To insert something to Freenet you should select a descriptive key, and the file you want to insert. You can optionally tell Freenet what kind of data it is (this is used by the web browser to decide how the data should be displayed when it is retrieved). Be aware that it may take up to 1 minute to insert some information. To see some examples of keys take a look here. If you would like others to know about what you have inserted you can submit it to a keyindex, such as this one. For a much more detailed explanation of how you can create entire websites that can be updated regularly within Freenet, please look at Creating Websites in Freenet on the Freenet homepage.
