There's probably not much use to running multiple nodes on a single PC (except for the purpose of testing), but if you run them on separate machines, and your internet connection is sufficiently fast, doing so might increase your observed performance when your nodes connect locally as well as to the global network. Note that there's an MDNSDiscovery plugin that is supposed to aid in setting up local connections.
