Just Freetalk errors. Turn off Freetalk since it's not working anyway. Does 
Freenet work reliably without Freetalk loaded?

It seems to correlate with the phase of the moon. /sarcasm

Seriously, node.db4o self-corrupting is a known problem and people have said 
it's connected to all sorts of things - and there is no reliable connection to 
anything. It certainly happened before java 7.

If you can reliably get it to corrupt itself quickly, it might be possible to 
debug it.

[freenet-support] freenet not working

Hi, some time ago, my freenet node does not work fine. I hoped the last
update solved this but now it's worst. Some times I have more than 30
strangers connected but suddently the node disconnects from them. I see
lots of erros in the logs. I send some information, but please tell me
which files do you need to help.

[1] Why can't they be scrubbed by default again? Like, I think, how Tor

Hmmm. It is possible that recent changes to the installer have fixed this 
problem. Please uninstall and then get the latest installer from the website 
and reinstall. If that doesn't fix it ...

This is a fairly common problem with our Windows installer. I have CC'ed our 
Windows expert, maybe he can find out what the problem is.

One thing you could do is send us your wrapper.log - that is a file in the dir 
you installed Freenet into - and then check the permissions on the directory, 
Local Service should have full access to it.

Sorry. This is a well known problem which is hard to fix for various reasons - 
mostly because when we try to reproduce the problem on a developer's computer 
it goes away. It may have been fixed by now, we changed the installer's java 
autodetection slightly recently. Could you possibly uninstall and try again? 
Thanks. If it works please tell us; if it doesn't work, please tell us, and we 
may want to ask a few questions and maybe send you a new installer to test.

connected to the actual webpages, where flashy red messages told me about
the urgency to download the latest java update, wich I did, and now
everytime I try to start freenet I get this error message: “Freenet Starter
was unable to control the Freenet system service. Reason: Service did not
respond to signal. If the problem keeps occurring, try reinstalling Freenet
or report this error message to the developers.” So here you go.



I had Java v5ux before the update, and now I have java v6u18. I use Windows
Vista.

It's a problem with the installer. Certain versions of OpenJDK have bugs that 
cause it not to work. Unfortunately the version in Ubuntu 8.04 doesn't have 
the needed fix.

[freenet-support] freenet not working with openjdk/icedtea

Hi, I'm running the latest openjdk/icedtea on ubuntu hardy and freenet
won't run. It complains about an exception in
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException. is it an unsupported feature of
icedtea. I attached the error log with this email.

Please find the directory you installed Freenet into in Windows Explorer and 
send us the file called wrapper.log. This should give us some idea what went

otherwise... We don't have optimized math libraries for amd64 yet.

[freenet-support] freenet not working.

wanting to install freenet, but i can't seem to.. i can run the initial config
script, and that works, but when it runs it produces the following errors.
Please note I changed the script to run the command gij instead of java. the
error is the same, but when I used the java command it also said it didn't
understand the command line options and what ignoring them. I have CentOS 4.1
which is basically redhat enterprise 4 latest, and Sun 1.4.2 is included as a
package.

Hi!

It will not work because it is using gij. Even Kaffe will not run
Freenet 0.5 at present. Hopefully Freenet 0.7 will work with GCJ 4.1.
But not yet.

What exactly does it say if you set it to run the java command? It is
quite possible that you are invoking Kaffe or GIJ due to a symlink.

The current Freenet uses java.nio methods.  GCJ doesn't have a
complete implementation of nio.  The 0.7 rewrite of Freenet will
hopefully avoid using nio thereby allowing people to use GCJ and other
free JVMs.

For now, I suggest using Sun's jvm for running Freenet.
