They are the stable branch and the development branch.

why are there still 2 different freds... what's the difference between them? "new" 
users of freenet hopefully have accepted that freenet is still 0.x, and thus they 
had to upgrade regulary in the last few days, so they should get used to it why 
not make 6xx the "current" release?

btw.. where can i find the latest developers' edition? are they the snapshots, or are 
they in cvs only?
