Problem in Compiling Kernel Module for Openmoko
Dear Sir, I am trying to compile a kernel module to run on openmoko, and in this regard I downloaded the provided toolchain and the kernel from http://git.openmoko.org/?p=kernel.git;a=summary The problem is that the downloaded kernel from http://git.openmoko.org/?p=kernel.git;a=summary does not has the file gta02_defconfig where as this instruction is given on the site: You also need to cp ./arch/arm/configs/gta02_defconfig .config before building However I used another file in the same directory i.e. ./arch/arm/configs/gta02_micro_defconfig however when I say ./build . then this output appears: scripts/kconfig/conf -s arch/arm/Kconfig scripts/kconfig/conf -s arch/arm/Kconfig CHK include/linux/version.h /bin/sh: -c: line 0: syntax error near unexpected token `(' /bin/sh: -c: line 0: `echo 2.6.29-GTA02_(no-mokodev include/config/kernel.release' make[1]: *** [include/config/kernel.release] Error 2 make: *** [sub-make] Error 2 make: INTERNAL: Exiting with 17 jobserver tokens available; should be 16! Please help me I am stuck in this problem for 2 days, and I am getting desperate. I would be really grateful. I think this happens when you're not in a valid branch! Type git-branch and you'll notice it. Please switch to the andy tracking branch and build again. Would a kernel FAQ be useful? I'll check the wiki tomorrow to see what we have there ... I just don't remember now. Perhaps we should also modify the build script to warn about this fact. It's a FAQ now... Solar Moko Idea
Has anyone given any thought about embedding a solar panel into the back cover of the OpenMoko devices? I'm certain other modifications are necessary. This is an area I am interested in helping out with. Anyone have expertise in this area to see if this is even doable? Hi Paul! Thanks, but this is all about the Neo Freerunner (GTA02), not about the Neo 1973 (GTA01). At least as far as I can tell. Re: Solar Moko Idea
Paul I suspect a cell this small will only begin to be practical if 40% efficient cells ever appear. The cell would need to be isolated from the rest of the phone to keep the battery cool. If the battery gets warmed up from proximity with the cell, it will be too hot to be safely charged. Neo Freerunner on eBay
Hi, Last year I received a Neo Freerunner to review for a magazine. I used the Freerunner enough to evaluate it for the article, and haven't touched it since, so I've put it for sale on eBay and started the bidding at $0.99. Here's a short URL to the auction: http://tr.im/gta02 It's in perfect condition, no scratches, and was never used on a daily basis. The auction also includes two 2GB MicroSD cards that I bought to test booting multiple distributions from SD. Everything that came with the Freerunner is included in the box. I've posted a few pictures of it on the auction as well, so you can zoom in and see the device up close. Rather than just throwing out some random price I figured it would be better to put it up for auction and let the market decide what its worth. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions. Sorry for the advertisement, but I thought someone here might be looking for a Freerunner at a discount. Re: Neo Freerunner on eBay
Well, in my day when we received a review unit we returned it to the company that sent it to us after the review was done, but I guess times have changed. I decided to bid on this unit, so I bid the minimum, $1.04, but I was outbid by someone else. I guess I don't want to bid any higher, since I do not want to see someone gain from something they did not pay for, and I too would like to see a deserving Openmoko developer get it for the least amount of money they can. md -- Jon maddog Hall Executive Director Linux International(R) email: mad...@li.org 80 Amherst St. Voice: +1.603.672.4557 Amherst, N.H. 03031-3032 U.S.A. Re: Neo Freerunner on eBay
The Freerunner was most of the payment for writing the article. It certainly wasn't something I got for free, in fact, I lost money on it. Thanks for your bid.
