SHR headphones not detecting

2009-08-28 Thread Paul
Anyone else experiencing issues where the phone doesn't react to the
plugging in of headphones? I found that when it doesn't detect the head
phones, only one ear (the left year) works and the speaker on the phone is
also on. This isn't great when commuting on public transit.

Sometimes restarting the alsa service gets it to detect the headphones,
though I cannot recreate this with great reliability.

Any ideas? Is this a hardware or a software issue? (I do hear blips in
both ears when plugging them in.

Thanks

there are two possible explanations:
- you have to push in the headphone plug harder to actually connect --
hearing only in one earphone usually is a sign for that
- you needt to plug in _after_ establishing the call. not sure, how a) shr
handles that and b) if fso did fix it -- but with debian i frequently
experienced that the state file was switched only after establishing a
communication, ie when calling or accepting with the headphones already
plugged in, the state would nevertheless siwtch to handset, i had to
unplug and replug the headphones to make the state switch correctly.

No. He said the speaker on the phone is also on, so the alsa state is still
using the speaker, not the headset. In this case sound only goes to one side
of the headphones.

That indicates a bug in the state handling, either by the phone app or in
rules.yaml.

Arne,

Thank you for your reply.

I'm mainly using my headphones with inTone to listen to music on my
commute. When the phone is in suspend, if I connect the head phones
sometimes the phone detects the event and everything is good, other times it
doesn't and that's when I get the odd behavior.

Plugging/replugging in the headphones is having little effect on getting it
to work.
