There was also a bug report where someone stated that if not touching
the headphone jack or GPS/USB connectors, ie. keeping Neo in a bit
weird position while speaking, the buzz problem goes mostly away. I've
now used Neo like that and people haven't recently complained about
buzzing, but it has always been more or less random thing. I also have
mixer mic/speaker settings at very low volumes now, so it might be
just that too.

Again, is their safe a way we can turn off the headset microphone power
and test this ?

p.s. I'm in Montreal with Rogers. The buzz is always present and worst
when fingers are on top of the headphone jack.

Before any of you start doing this be aware:

* My understanding is that the jack as the cause of the GSM buzz has NOT
been confirmed to everyones satisfaction.

* If you apply a soldering iron to your Freerunner and damage the
Freerunner, I'm pretty sure we won't replace it for free.

Hmm, this is the first I've heard of *something* fixing the GSM buzz issue.

Joerg (or anyone else that might know): Would just desoldering the mic part of
the jack also fix the problem? Assuming I can eventually get a bluetooth
headset working, I don't anticipate ever using the headset jack for anything
other than listening to audio; so, I don't need the mic part.

there *could* be a sollution when inserting a dummy jack and
shortcircuiting it, but joerg had no conclusive data on that
when I get hold of a useless 2.5jack I will try it (could be a while,
the one supplied by openmoko is the only one I have and I use it to
listen to mp3's)

Hi all,

Maybe the headset microphone power source is responsible for that noise.
Is there a software way turn off the headset microphone ?

No idea. How do I tell? The unit has date code 20080620 and was shipped as

Does anyone have any data they can release as to roughly how many are

Keep up the good stuff everyone!
