It's just performance usually.

Hi,
I'm wondering about the difference between using, for example, a fxp
NIC (intel) compared to a bge NIC for VLANs.
fxp supports long frames, while bge supports VLANs natively. What is
the difference? VLAN is managed by the NIC for the bge and by the OS
with an fxp?
I've set up 2

Hi

Hi there,
We've have a pfsense setup with vlans to engage 6 adsl lines
+ lan + wifi to a 3 nics Server (2 x 10/100 + 1 Gbit)
To accomplish a similar setup you need a vlan capable switch.
We did that with a netgear smart switch

Michael,
No offense, but how about storing howtos/guides (like described in your
mail) at http://doc.pfsense.org and linking to it in your mailanswer next
time? At least if the answer is that extensive and general usable. This way
the documentation would
going to upload it.
Cheers,
Michael

Holger,
Hmm.. No offense; all the contrary I think you're absolutely right; this way it
will be far easier for the rest of the people to make a lot out of this great
software, with far less trouble and frustration.
What I'll do, is that I'll
