Not sure this is the right place to ask for a "feature" but I'll try anyway.
One nice thing I miss from Microsoft Messenger is that it kept the last status it last saw on the contacts. Pidgin instead "erases" the status field as soon a contact on my list goes offline (it only shows "last seen").
