Hi Phil, Have you tried using the Message Notification plugin that ships with Pidgin? (Tools->Plugins->Message Notification) It has the option to 'flash window' and 'remove when conversation window gains focus' which for me on Win10 keeps the taskbar displaying with a yellow/orange background. Not able to connect pidgin after window 10 update

Pidgin oddity
On one machine (my wife's), Pidgin does not keep flashing if an unread IM has arrived. This actually causes *me* most of the grief, because my wife will say "You didn't tell me [you left | you got home | you got there without dying | whatever] and I say "Sure I did, I IMed you" and she looks and says "Oh, it wasn't flashing".
