gtalk - not authorized - ssl/secure issue?
hi, I just added the pidgin depo to ubuntu jaunty 9.04. install went fine, but I cannot connect to gtalk to test the audio/video feature. Its a copied, working backup for the .pidgin directory so I know the config is exactly the same. Error message is Not authorized. I'm pretty sure it has todo with secure connection or ssl cause I had the issue long, long ago with gaim but I can't recall howto fix it without recompiling. Can someone please steer me in the right direction? auto hiding, removal of some buddy list groups
this has bugged me for a long time, and frankly hate the wasted space of unused buddy lists. While I know you can hide an empty list - thats not what I want to do. I'm talking about the favorites, non-im contacts, other contacts Is there a permanent way to remove them without them re-appearing when you relog? I'd appreciate the help thanks ps. prove me wrong, but I cannot get any of the audio/video working in gtalk or the other additions in windows. If these are not included in the native windows client I say why? If you're not going to include the fixes for every os you support on the site why not drop it like osx (if you want to discuss it logically and maturely thats fine. there is a 3rd party plugin called mystatusbox from http://plugins.guifications.org/trac/ you can basically show/hide the other accounts status or have one in away and one online. the developpers may correct me but I do not know of any way an instant messenger can find this out by itself. I'm sure there a few dozen or more people here with better information on netbooks but it depends on the type of distribution it uses.. Eg. deb, rpm, slackware, etc... Check with manufacturer or online google to see, and then you can look up the distribution specific method. while he did answer the question, I absolutely do not agree it was formatted right. People just try to ask a simple question and yet get some rant about a truck or some junk (heck I couldn't get through it myself). In future you might just want to answer the question(s) instead of treating a person like they asked a stupid question. Eg. while I know pidgin supports most networks I have no clue as to how, nor do I care.. If I were to ask is there a way to force ssl/encryption I'd rather hear straightforward --- there are plugins, there's a howto, not sure, etc... recent issue with windows live/msn - invalid response
I just noticed a little ago that my msn contacts are dead. I tried re-starting and re-enabling the msn says windows live authentication: invalid response Regular msn/live client doesn't work. proxies that work with pidgin?
While I know how these work and that sock4/5 and that sort are supported my question is more to do with finding a compatible one to use. I've tried several free proxy lists/sites and none of have worked. I'd like to use one for annonymity on one of my accounts for now... so? can someone suggest a list of free or nearly free proxies that can use pidgin, or maybee wide range of other programs like firefox? skype and video/audio
don't expect a skype protocol in anything besides the commercial sype product, even if 99% of the code was released tomorrow most open source would prob still stay away from it + skype will not release 100% of its code. For video and audio, will all due respect because I HAVE been using this since 0.9x gaim but dev really need a step up in effords to get working. I know its not child's play, I know we're at least talking msn,yahoo, prob gtalk.. and maybee its a matter of manpower but I've sorta given up in ever seeing it, or a beta to help test, being released. Send in the flame messages but this is my opinion and fustration on this project and I think we need video/audio (even if beta support) in v3.. I'm not saying to be ignorant but I do speak my mind. I no longer have a u3, but I use pidgin portable, which is a similar project. What you're probably going to need to do is find the plugin directory in the u3. If I remember this is an apps folder, a random digit folder and then the program name.. ([drive]\apps\\pidgin\plugins -- Which I know doesn't help too much). But try to search for plugins or pidgin on the u3 drive and locate the plugins directory, then you can change the install dir on encryption plugin to the same one as you found in previous steps. is there support for yahoo aliases?
are there plugins or something to manage aliases on yahoo instant messenger (eg, my default is fred but I have fred1) instead of having seperate login info under accounts? well I thought official yahoo messenger client was sufficient description for yim But I guess some take longer to clue in... AS i said I know there was an outage, but sorta odd that yim connected perfectly while pidgin didn't. I didn't mean all pidgin was down, again though was sufficient description to say yim service is down. As for honda civic comment, while I think it's funny cause that is my car... (and first time saying something this crude) but was the dumbest comment I've ever received to, someone would call, a stupid question. AGAIN yim connected, pidgin didn't same as for Micheal. I'm not a damn programmer. and was wondering if there was a diff in how they connected, which server, etc P.S. outage today / pidgin
I realize there was a maintenance / outage today, but for the last 4 hrs or so pidgin will not connect but the official client does... So if I'm mistaken or resolves before this is viewed I'm sorry.. Is there any new settings/server/etc.. during this or any other way to connect via pidgin instead? I saw pager server, so is this the same everywhere or are there diff ones? new, frequent disconnection to yim / no auto reconnect :-|
First off I dun know what you consider fatal error, but considering this is a new issue (within days) and the acc worked flawless since I think this is either protocol or yim changes. I keep getting error (0), logging into website may fix and it says need to re-enable account. I've already done this, recreated account and even my entire .purple directory... Nothing is working. Is this related to yim service/protocol changes or a known problem with pidgin? I have no other problems with other services/games/etc during time, no failed wireless, disconnections, etc... Running windows vista, latest sp and latest version of pidgin Another thing, I think the reconnect should be set in preferences as was before.. Maybee reconnect attempt and attempt reconnect on fatal checkboxes, timeframe and retry count for either. finch + messed up screen using screen
Running ubuntu 7.10 and latest finch in repo. I try to run finch from command line as non-root user and get: libnm_glib_nm_state_cb: dbus returned an error. (org.freede Error.AccessDenie security policy in place prevents this sender from sending see message bus configuration file (rejected message had int anager member state error name (unset) destination org I'm just not sure how to fix or if need to change / update permissions to do so. Secondly I hope some of you try to use finch with screen command. The display is pretty messed up. Instead of horizontal/vertical lines I have a series of รข and makes it totally unusable. I know this is likely compatibility with screen. I'd appreciate any help you can provide. i tried the ubuntu forum but nobody is replying.
