Pidgin - yahoo - Not on Server list

2011-06-11 Thread Gordon Stewart
Hi.

How do I know a person is 'blocked' how do I unblock them ?

The persons status is offline not on server list.

I'm using Pidgin 2.6.6 on Ubuntu 10.04.

Ps there is a red circle with a line through it - on the right side of
the user-list against the persons name.

ip address

2011-02-02 Thread Gordon Stewart
Hello.

I'm using pidgen to chat with someone on yahoo...

is there a way in pidgen (or yahoo messenger) to find the ip address
of the other person ?

I dont need to know 'exactly' where they are - just the country.

i'm not sure if they're telling truth.

security login ?

2010-12-28 Thread Gordon Stewart
Hi..

Has pidgen got a security login / password -

I have 3-4 different users logged in, if i close the pidgen, another
person can open it up instantly get access to my chats / buddies
with no password requirement. (unless i lock / shut down the pc - they
log in at that point...)

Last I knew, the functionality you are asking for didn't exist in that
client.  Unless that has changed, it can't exist in Pidgin.

why does it need to be in the official (Yahoo messenger) programme
to be incorporated into Pidgin ?

Either you are visable, or not - Easy...

if the visable command is active (even if you are invisible to the
other people), its just a matter of Pidgin remembering which person
you want visable / to see you, then stick a 'permanent' thing on
it.

so next time you come online - It automatically marks the person as
able to see you.

- no changes needed in Yahoo Messenger system to cope..

Or am I missing something ?

Those functions you are talking about (appear visible and appear

if they ARE part of the protocol - It can be implemented..

I guess i'm lost / or people are getting confused..

:- Yahoo Messenger

:- has protocol to be visable (per member)
:- Has Protocol to be invisable (per member).

Pidgin can activate / use these 2 protocols..

:- pidgin remembers permanently (within the pidgin system - NOT
Yahoo), which members I want to be permanently visable too..

when i log in, pidgin knows I want to be visable to ABC member - it
activates the 'visable' protocol..

The permanent visable part doesn't need to be implemented within
Yahoo messenger itself.

Where is the URL to submit a pidgin idea ? i'll submit it...

No worries - Just an idea - pidgin can use Yahoo's protocols to become
BETTER than Yahoo :)

Visability...

2010-04-09 Thread Gordon Stewart
Good day.

when using pidgin, (one of the recent versions..)

I can mark a yahoo person as showing on my screen, even if they are
logged off (I do not show other logged off people)..

now, this setting sticks remains for that particular person - no
matter how many times I log off log back in, I can always see their
status / name on my screen

(I want this)...

However, If i am invisible - i can mark a person, so they can see me
as online - even if I am invisible.

This setting, does NOT stick - I have to manually do that each
time I log in...

(I do see a permanently OFFline setting, so they can NEVER see me
online) - Can there be a permanently ONline setting / option ?

Is there a setting in the latest version of pidgen, so BOTH of these
settings stick and i dont have to manually adjust them when i log
in... - If it does do that, I'll d/load the latest version)

If the second option is not yet available, who do I contact to make a
suggestion ?

pounce

2010-04-09 Thread Gordon Stewart
Hi,

I've just added a pounce on someone - but can't see a way to view /
edit / remove the pounce.

(or to confirm the pounce is active)

If I right-click pounce the user again, I just get the default template..

(using latest version - confirmed)

Last seen ?

2010-03-26 Thread Gordon Stewart
Hello.

a query re the last seen (online) detail.

example :- one of my contacts was last seen 10 days ago...

If I'm normally online from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. (pidgin is turned on aswell)

one of my contacts was online earlier in the day, but logged off at
5 p.m. - Before I logged on.

does the 'last seen' record the time they were actually online ? Or
when my pidgin actually saw them on (while I was on aswell)

Hope that makes sense :)

Query - Joining rooms

2009-08-20 Thread Gordon Stewart
Hi,

I've got pidgin set up, so that if anyone goes into the room, I
automatically enter it.

HOWEVER, if no one else is in the room, I cannot join it be the
first to be in it

Is this normal ??

Pidgen - Enhancement / Improvement

2009-07-20 Thread Gordon Stewart
Hi,

I like pidgin, except I have a suggestion I want to make :-

:- When people talk with me directly, the Pidgin icon in the tray
flashes, so i can see when someone talks...

:- I am usually in a chat room, with only a few selected people, it
may be HOURS of silent, then someone speaks..

However Pidgin doesn't let me know...

Suggestion :- can Pidgin be improved to allow an ON/OFF setting 'per
conference room' - So we can know when someone speaks.

But - If we are in another room with 50+, 100+ people - we can turn it
off - So as to not be distracted...

Is this planned for - Or can it be added to the wish list ?

I am currently using 2.5.8
