Hi Eion,
it seems that "pidgin.exe -f" fix the problem! Thank you. Can this be
reported as bug to be fixed?

Hi Tomas,

I've had similar struggles with Win11 - probably an updated API for
network availability in there somewhere.  As a workaround, I've edited
my Pidgin shortcut to run  "pidgin.exe -f" which makes Pidgin ignore
the online/offline status that Windows is reporting.

Hope that helps you as much as it's helped me!

Pidgin starts automatically with windows login but after some time

never
finish. Once you switch to "offline" and "online" it is again
working.
Problem seems to show once you upgrade from W10 to W11 on some PC.
What
helped was to switch from onboard lan to USB lan. So the problem
could
be related to some eco/sleeping feature? What can we try to find
out the
problem? This also occurst on latest version 2.14.10.

Thank you

Pidgin stuck at "connecting" after while Windows 11

2022-06-13 Thread Tomáš Růžička

Hi,
we are using Pidgin for long time but it seems that after upgrade to W11
some computers have problem with connecting to ejabberd XMPP server.
Pidgin starts automatically with windows login but after some time
(minutes, hours it depends) it stuck in state "connecting" and it never
finish. Once you switch to "offline" and "online" it is again working.
Problem seems to show once you upgrade from W10 to W11 on some PC. What

This is is a peer support mailing list, for a piece of open source
software. We can give advice, but we cannot look into things. In
particular, we cannot look into Oracle's internal instant messaging
services, as we have no access to them, and can only guess the nature of
them.

It seems to me that your problem lies in connecting to Oracle's internal
server, so you need to contact Oracle's internal people that manage that
server.

Also note that the URL you provided redirects to
, presumably because the general
public have no access to the web server you used.

Standard response for Oracle users:

We are advised that people within the Oracle network can use
 for more information; for
outsiders, like us, it just redirects to the public home page.

Please explain to whoever should be supporting you why you went to the
wrong place, and suggest how they could fix that in future.

Sunny:

This is a known bug:
http://www.google.com/url?sa=tsource=webct=rescd=1url=https%3A%2F%2Flaunchpad.net%2Fbugs%2F365087ei=GOr1SeW-KpOytAPT9uHsCgusg=AFQjCNH4qzf8vW2G3G4qdhanuCCZ39wLSQ

Here is a quick work around!

Use the XMPP Protocol and under the Advanced tab use talk.google.com as the
Connect server.

Good luck,
