The problem is Microsoft, not Pidgin. Microsoft keeps shutting down
unofficial methods of access and applications - of which Pidgin is one.
So, a new Pidgin version is likely not going to solve your problem, at
least long term.

and /usr/local/lib64, so I'm going to have to clean those out. What else

The email address should be in the tooltip for the buddy, but no you can't
make the buddy
