Thanks for these pointers. We will try your advices, however the problem with
JP4 is that it is too big. We would need a minimum of 10 fps @ half resolution,
which we found is not feasible for this camera.
Anyway, will so how far we can get.

We found out that our camera was build from sebastian pichelhofer with parts of two cameras one with a internal IDE and one with an external HDD. He told us that he used the pcb from the camera with the internal IDE to build the camera. Maybe the SATA port is disabled is there any possibility to

The only way how SATA can be disabled is if you have internal HDD or CF cards.
internal CF is always IDE master, CF cards master/slave depends on the physical
position and SATA can be set to either master or slave - see
