Hi,

I have an old netbook, and a new one. Old = Windows XP SP3, and new= Windows 7 Home Premium. I have an ISP, and connect at home with Cablevision cable, and on the road with Cablevision Wi-Fi. I use a netbook mostly on the road. I'm running Avast antivirus, SpyMaster antispyware, and the Windows firewall.I set up both of them exactly the same, including proper server setting and port for SMTP. The old one works fine. With the new one, I can surf the net, and I can receive new e-mails. However, I cannot send new e-mails; getting one of two error notices:
1) Error 10604 = the servers are not talking to each other
                        or
2) Interruption before transaction could be completed.

Only twice, out of many attempts, I got an error signal consisting of nonsense letters and digits, followed by spamhaus.com. Yes, that is German spelling. I have no idea what it means.

I contacted Samsung, and they did not reply. I contacted both Cablevision and my ISP, and they just told me the correct server and port settings, which I knew.

I spoke with a computer geek friend, who said that it is a third party matter that he could not help with.

I have no clue as to why I cannot send e-mails, but can receive them.It is frustrating, because I therefore cannot use my new netbook, with its high-res screen and somewhat faster chip.

Any help to fix this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Mort Linder
